Support

Twisty is made by one person. He reads every message.

Email support@twistyrides.com and you will hear back, usually within a couple of days. Tell us what you were trying to plan and roughly where, since a bad route is far easier to fix when we can plan the same one.

Get Twisty on the App Store. If something is behaving oddly, updating to the latest version is worth trying first.

Common questions

Does Twisty give me turn-by-turn directions?

Yes, as of version 1.1.0. Plan a ride, tap Start navigating, and Twisty calls the corners aloud along the exact line you drew. There is no handing the route to another app, and nothing quietly rewritten on the way. It is a beta feature and part of Twisty Premium, and the first month is free.

It navigates the ride you planned. It is not trying to replace the app that takes you to work on a Tuesday: there is no traffic, no lane guidance, and no way to ask it for an address you have not planned a ride to. It also needs Twisty open on screen.

If you would rather use your own setup, nothing has changed and it stays free: export a GPX and the route transfers corner for corner to BMW Motorrad, OsmAnd, Scenic, Garmin and most riding apps, or send it to Google or Apple Maps.

Navigation stopped when I locked my phone

That is expected, for now. Twisty navigates only while it is open and on screen. It keeps the screen awake by itself while you are navigating, so a mounted phone is fine and will not sleep on its own. But if you lock it, switch to another app, or take a call, navigation stops and you will need to bring Twisty back to the front.

We chose that deliberately for this first release rather than asking for permission to follow you in the background. If it turns out to matter on real rides, tell us: support@twistyrides.com.

Navigation is quiet, or the map moves but nothing is said

First check the speaker button on the navigation screen: it remembers whether you last had the voice on or off. Twisty speaks over Bluetooth and ducks music rather than stopping it, and it is audible with the iPhone ringer switch off.

If the screen shows a red note saying it has no turn directions, that ride genuinely has none and the app is telling you rather than pretending. Re-plan the ride and it will come back with directions.

My route looked different in Google Maps

That is a real limitation of those apps, not a bug in yours. Google and Apple accept a destination and a handful of waypoints and then re-route between them their own fast way, which straightens some of the curvy bits. Twisty picks the points that best hold the shape and tells them to avoid highways, but it cannot send them the whole line.

If you want the route exactly, export a GPX file. It carries the entire track, corner for corner, into BMW Motorrad, OsmAnd, Scenic, Garmin and most other riding apps.

A road it sent me down was closed / gravel / awful

Twisty routes on OpenStreetMap data, which is very good and occasionally wrong. Tell us where and we will look at it. If the map itself is wrong, fixing it on OpenStreetMap helps every rider, not just you.

Which countries does it work in?

The United States, in full. Other regions are not covered yet.

How do I cancel Premium?

iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Twisty → Cancel. You keep Premium until the period you have paid for ends. Cancel during the free month and you are never charged. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I subscribed but the app still shows the free plan

Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases, making sure you are signed into the same Apple ID you bought it with. If that does not do it, email us.

What happens to my saved rides if I stop paying?

Nothing is deleted. Rides beyond the free plan’s limit become read-only until you remove some or subscribe again.

I never got my confirmation email

Check spam first. If it is genuinely missing, the app’s confirmation screen has a Resend button. Still nothing? Email us and we will confirm the account by hand.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: the profile icon, top right → Delete account → type DELETE. It is immediate and permanent, and it takes your rides with it.

Is my location tracked?

Only while the app is open. Twisty reads your position to plan a ride from where you are, and, if you use turn-by-turn navigation, to follow the route and know which corner is next. It stops the moment you leave the app: there is no background tracking, no ride recording and no speed data. The privacy policy lists everything.

Found a bug, or want something?

Both go to the same inbox and both are welcome. A good number of the features in Twisty exist because a rider wrote in: the ability to file rides into folders, to reshape one piece of a ride, and to keep the pins you placed when handing off to Google, all came from someone who took the time to say what was wrong.
