Terms of Use
Last updated 5 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Vuk Mijatovic, an individual developer based in Maryland, United States (“Twisty”, “we”), covering the Twisty app and this website. Installing or using Twisty means you accept them. If you don’t, don’t use it.
Read the safety section. Twisty suggests roads, and now guides you along them. It does not know whether a road is closed, flooded, gated, gravel, or wrong for your machine, and it has no traffic, no live hazards and no lane guidance. What you see out of the helmet beats what the app says, every time. Everything that happens on the ride is your call.
1. What Twisty is
Twisty is a route planner. It proposes rides that favour interesting roads over fast ones. You can then ride the route in one of two ways: with Twisty’s own turn-by-turn navigation, or by sending it to an app you already use: Google Maps, Apple Maps, or any app that reads a GPX file.
Turn-by-turn navigation is a beta feature and part of Twisty Premium. It follows the route you planned and speaks the turns aloud. It is not a general-purpose navigator: it has no traffic, no incident or hazard reporting, no speed limits, no lane guidance, and it will not take you to an address you have not planned a ride to. It also runs only while Twisty is open and on screen.
Being a beta feature, it may misjudge a turn, announce one late, lose your position, or stop working. Do not rely on it where being wrong would be dangerous or costly, and keep a way of finding your way that does not depend on it.
2. Safety, the part that actually matters
- Never operate Twisty while riding or driving. Plan, edit and start your ride before you set off, or while stopped somewhere safe and legal. Following spoken directions from a securely mounted phone is what navigation is for; reading the screen, tapping it or editing a route while moving is not, and in many places it is illegal.
- Navigation is guidance, not permission. A spoken turn is not a statement that the turn is legal, open, safe or suitable for your vehicle at that moment. It has no traffic, no live hazards, no speed limits and no lane guidance. Signs, road markings, conditions and your own eyes always win.
- Routes are suggestions, not instructions. They are generated from public map data that can be out of date, incomplete or simply wrong. A road may be closed, under construction, seasonal, private, gated, flooded, unlit, unpaved or unsuitable for your vehicle, and Twisty may not know.
- Dirt and unpaved routes carry real risk. If you enable dirt roads, you accept that surfaces may be unsuitable for your vehicle, your tyres or your experience.
- You are responsible for obeying the law (speed limits, signs, road closures and access restrictions) and for riding within your ability and your machine’s.
- Estimated times are estimates. They are not targets, and nothing in Twisty is an invitation to ride faster than is safe or legal.
- Take a real map. Twisty needs a working phone and a data connection. Navigation also needs the app open on screen, and it stops if the phone sleeps, the battery dies or you switch away. Do not rely on it as your only means of finding your way, particularly somewhere remote.
3. Your account
You need an account to use Twisty, and you must give an email address you actually control. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be at least 13 (or 16 where local law requires) to have one.
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and it takes your saved rides with it.
4. Free and Premium
Twisty has a free plan that stays free, and a Premium subscription that unlocks turn-by-turn navigation (beta), additional riding styles, AI ride planning, segment editing, Scout and an unlimited library. GPX export and sending a route to Google or Apple Maps stay on the free plan, so you can ride any route you plan without subscribing. What sits in each plan is listed on our pricing section and may change over time; if we move something out of the free plan we will say so in advance.
Subscription terms
- Premium is $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year in USD. Prices in other regions are set by Apple and shown before you buy.
- New subscribers get one month free. The trial is available once per Apple ID.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at the end of the free month, and it renews automatically at the same interval unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel any time in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep Premium until the period you have paid for runs out.
- If you cancel during the free month you are not charged.
- When a subscription ends, your account drops to the free plan. Your saved rides are not deleted, but any beyond the free plan’s limit become read-only until you delete some or resubscribe.
- Apple handles all billing. Refunds are Apple’s to give, through reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue them.
5. Your rides are yours
The rides you build and save belong to you. We store them so you can get at them, and we do not claim ownership, sell them, or use them to advertise to you. We may use anonymous, aggregated statistics (how long a typical ride is, which styles get used) to improve the routing. Nothing in that identifies you.
6. Fair use
Don’t attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service; don’t resell it or pass its routing on as your own product; don’t use it for anything illegal. We may suspend an account that does. Automated or abusive use of the AI planner may be rate-limited or cut off.
7. Map data
Twisty’s routing is built on OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, made available under the Open Database License. Place search uses Mapbox. Map imagery is provided by Apple on iOS. We are grateful to all of them and responsible for none of their mistakes.
8. Availability
Twisty is run by one person on rented servers. We aim to keep it up and we do not promise it always will be. Features may change, and we may add, alter or retire them. If something significant is going away, we will tell you.
9. Disclaimers
Twisty is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that routes are safe, legal, passable, accurate or suitable for your vehicle, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Twisty is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any injury, death, property damage, fines, delay or lost time arising out of your use of the app or of any route it suggests. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Some places do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Ending it
You can stop using Twisty and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.
12. Changes to these terms
We will update the date above when these change, and give notice in the app for anything material. Continuing to use Twisty after that means you accept the new version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
14. Apple
This agreement is between you and Twisty, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to support it. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
